Founded in 1985 by Jim Smith, Plastic Design Engineering offers consulting services to inventors, entrepreneurs and commercial businesses in the computer, consumer and medical product areas. Specializing in mechanical design, injection mold tooling and intellectual property development enables us to support your project effort from concept through production. This includes all necessary engineering, prototyping, patent development, tooling liaison and quality standards to insure the success of your product.
In 1985, I realized there was a lack of plastic product design and tooling expertise in the marketplace. There was a need for a company to design and develop high quality plastic products. With this idea, I founded Plastic Design Engineering (PDE). This company combines the technical knowledge of materials, tooling and production methods to help provide clients with the best possible product at the lowest possible cost
It has now been over 35 years and what had started out as more of a design center for plastic products has grown into inventing and developing intellectual property in the medical and consumer areas with patented protection. This includes 35 issued United States Patents and over 45 International Patents.
